As many of you who follow my Facebook page know, I volunteer a lot at the Arvada Farmers Market on Sundays.

I am a farmers market junkie, when we first moved to Colorado I was lost as to what market could meet my needs that was close-ish to where we were living. We checked out several but always ended up back at the Arvada market. I love it because it is like going to a grocery store, only this grocery store is outside and has a lot of local vendors to meet my every day needs. Not only do they have some delicious, local, -icide free produce that is affordable, and pasture raised meat that is tasty, they also have things like soap, lotions, bread (gluten free even!), and several other things you would buy while shopping. This way I can get all my shopping done once a week at market. I still would love to see a pastured chicken and pork vendor. Hopefully they can snag one next year.

They also have some wonderful local food trucks on site for some tasty treats. You can go to the market, get a burrito or tamale, then go get some tasty local ice cream. It is a great place to go with the family on a Sunday and just hang out.

My kids love the market because, other than the tasty free samples they can get, they get to play in the splash pad! There is a splash pad right smack dab in the middle of the market that the kids love playing in. It is so much fun to bring them in their bathing suits and watch them play while sipping on some fresh squeezed lemonade. They try to bring some fun things for kids to play with when the splash pads aren’t running as well. The first weekend there were hula-hoops that kids loved playing with. It is definitely a family friendly affair.

This is the Arvada Farmers Markets 5th year and they are better than ever! It will run until the end of September.

This year, Kimberly and Nathan, the people who run the market, are doing something different. They joined Local Radius where you can purchase your local goods from a lot of these vendors year round and pick them up at the central location. This way you can shop local online year round. This is awesome for me because I hate having to go back to the grocery stores once farmers market season ends. This way I don’t have to! I can pick up my local goods and pay for them online. It makes planning shopping easier on me because I can shop on line and get what I can before I go out to the grocery store.

The locations and times of the Arvada farmers market is:

Sundays (9-2) in Arvada at the Olde Town Square (W 57th Ave & Olde Wadsworth Blvd, Arvada, CO 80002)
