Catnip Calm Kid Tea Collage

Catnip and Kids

I have written about it before in Kitty Crack Kiddo Calmer. I wrote this post for Modern Alternative Health published last Wednesday. I just love Catnip so much I can’t not share!

When my kids get sick, agitated, excited, scared or anxious I like to help them reach a state of calm and peace both physically and emotionally. One of the ways I do that is by using herbs, specifically Catnip.

Catnip? You mean that weed that makes cats go insane and destroy my furniture/garden/dog’s face?

Yes.

Nepeta cataria also known as catnipcatswort, or catmint is a wonderful herbal ally for children. It is in the mint family but is calming, soothing and gentle for little bodies.

  1. I haven’t planted catnip in my garden because I try to do everything possible to keep cats OUT! Lol! I might just have to find a place for it now. 🙂 Thanks for sharing on Wildcrafting Wednesday! 🙂
